UPDATE 03/31/2020: TPWD Hunter Education has extended the moratorium on teaching Instructor Led Hunter Education classroom courses with in person students until at least 4/30/2020. NO Classroom Hunter Education courses are to be taught as per TPWD.
UPDATE 03/25/2020: No change as of today, all activities and events for THEIA/TPWD still suspended until further notice.
UPDATE 03/19/2020: THEIA officially announces the cancellation of the TPWD /THEIA Hunter Education conference. We hope that we can reschedule the conference for later in the year but dates have not been determined as of yet.
UPDATE 03/19/2020: TPWD closes Public-Serving facilities and Programs and Events. In a official TPWD email the department outlined the suspension of normal activities due to COVID-19.
UPDATE 03/16/2020: TPWD Hunter Education – published – “Current Policy” … “is that all (hunter education) instructor-led classes, meetings, conferences shall be cancelled thru March 31st.”

Texas Hunter Education Instructors Association, Inc. (THEIA) is committed to bringing the most accurate information available to all Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) Hunter Education Instructors regarding the recent concerns as it relates to the COVID-19 Virus that has been dominating the news and social media of late.
As of 03/19/2020 – The CDC has recommended a cancellation or postponement of ALL in-person events for the next 8 weeks, that consist of 10 people or more throughout the United States. Click Here to read the CDC recommendations. As of today the Hunter Education Conference is approximately 6 weeks away.
